Name and synonyms of the temple: Some people also call this temple by the name of Suchindarum. The goddess situated here is also known as Bhagavathy Amman or Kanya kumara. Just after every morning puja, Devi turns to look more beautiful.



Place: This temple is situated at the southern most part of Kanyakumari in the state of Tamil Nadu. The popular temple is placed between two towns and is just 11 km from the city of Kanya kumari.


Description:The term Suchindaram has got an emphasis of the word Suchi which means purification. There is an interesting behind the word.

According to our religious book, this is the place where Indra suffered a curse from sage Gowthama. Indra cast an amorous glance at Ahalya, who was the wife of Gowthama. In order to get free from the curse, Indra offered worship to Lord Shiva. Apart from this, Suchindatam is the place where the upper teeth of Devi fell down.



Special information about this Place: This particular place is also very famous for Trimurti of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. There was also a curse given to the particular God by the Rishi patni. But soon the purification procedure was carried on to discharge the curse.
